Do We Owe Our Parents Anything?

I am grateful for everything my parents have done for me, and I believe they played a role in many of my accomplishments. However, gratitude does not mean I owe them my entire life. While I value their wisdom and support, the decisions I make are ultimately mine. Success is something we work for ourselves, and true happiness comes from creating a life that aligns with our own values and dreams not simply living according to someone else's expectations.

Do We Owe Our Parents Anything?

I think I owe my parents some of the things I have accomplished in life, but that doesn’t

mean I live only for my parents. My parents have never been the ones to tell us that, “‘because

of me you have...”, which I am grateful for but there are people that hear that expression and

sometimes it doesn’t have to be the parents that will say that, but others that feel entitled to your

success. Going back to my parents, in school I would motivate myself for my parents and try

even harder for them, but that success was mine and I don’t owe them that. I like to say it

like this, “It is my life and I will live it not them”. If I was to only listen to them I

wouldn’t be happy, I do listen to their words full of wisdom, but only I will make that

decision because it is my life.
