Our worst enemy: A conversation on self-sabotage

For years, I struggled to give myself credit for my accomplishments. Even after reaching important milestones like graduating and becoming licensed in my career, I found ways to minimize my success by comparing myself to others or convincing myself I could have done better. Looking back, I realize that my own negative thoughts were stealing joy from some of life's most meaningful moments. Learning to recognize self-sabotaging patterns has taught me the importance of self-kindness, gratitude, and allowing myself to fully celebrate the achievements I've worked so hard for.

Our worst enemy: A conversation on self-sabotage

I have always tended to hold myself back from situations in my life or never give myself the

right credit for something that I have done for myself. For some people it is very easy to

praise an accomplishment for a praise from others, but for me I have always felt like no

matter what others thought I did not give myself the opportunity to suck it all in and believe.

A big accomplishment for me is graduating and being licensed in a career, but I did not

allow myself to enjoy it because in those moments I would tell myself ‘you did not try enough’

or ‘they did it better than you’ which I would make myself little and that is where the

self-sabotage comes in. Not allowing myself to be proud and enjoy those happy moments does

not allow me to remember those good memories with those bad feelings I allowed myself.

Realizing how I was ruining those wonderful times with my own thoughts has taught me to be

nice and turn those thoughts into positive words and also I want to live a life full of joy and

laughter.
